North Dakota Department of Transportation
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) reconstructed and improved Broadway, Minot's major north-south traffic route, in three phases over five years. NDDOT chose Odney to serve as the public information coordinator and we worked with them through all phases of the project. We developed and implemented a communications strategy to keep motorists informed, minimize the impact on more than 100 businesses along the route, and sustain support for the project.
Our public relations strategy included communications with businesses, media and the general public. We developed both a strategic communications plan and a crisis communications plan for the project. We produced and maintain a web site which was frequently updated, featured an opt-in e-mail system and contained the latest news on the project. Business communications included one-on-one meetings with all businesses affected by the project prior to the start of construction and ongoing communications through the media, mail, e-mail and personal visits. Our efforts achieved a broad base of support for the Broadway reconstruction project among businesses, media and the general public.
